Blue Carbon Society with volunteer groups came together in an impressive collaboration with the “Coastal Cleanup” on Ban Amphur Beach at Na Jomtien in Chonburi. The cleanup gathered 35 public- and private-sector organizations and students from local schools to make Ban Amphur Beach clean and beautiful, ready to welcome tourists again.
More than 500 volunteers together gathered 800kg of waste. A group sewed over 400 reusable blue net bags to collect the garbage.
The beach cleanup involved children from Ban Amphur School and Sattahip Wittayakhom School. By joining in the garbage collection they gained appreciation of nature and their homeland. Their action to protect the ecosystem helped instill good values among the young. An upcycling demonstration showed how plastic waste can be turned into bricks for building and provide community income.
